This series of ink work was devoted to flowers and completed according to aesthetic idea of Japanese beauty: Yugen, Vabi and Sabi.

Also, traditions of seasonality related to a deep symbolic meaning of every flower, because a picture is just the tip of the iceberg.

"Yugen, or the charm of understatement, is that beauty which lies deep in things, not aiming for the surface; it may not be noticed at all by a tasteless person or with a lack of peace of mind." Vsevolod Ovchinnikov "Sakura branch."

Yugen is intimate, secret, mystical thing. An aesthetic category in Japanese culture means more than obvious perception of the essence of the object.

Sumi-e painting embodies these aesthetic categories: Vabi (refined taste) and Sabi (sophisticated simplicity). Being one of the most noticeable characteristics of Sumi-e, simplicity assumes laconic use of brushstrokes.

All paintings are made in monochrome technique using only ink and wide range of shades, which is typical for aesthetic categories Vabi-Sabi. Blotches of gold and silver paint are designed to create mythical, ephemeral effect, revealing one of the Yugen principals.  Paintings are created by laconic brushstrokes. But on closer inspection, you can see shimmering, refined line, designed to emphasize the beauty of the flower. Paintings change their appearance depending on the lighting, time of day, showing new features.

It's important to realize how much it could be achieved without colour, using a wide range of brush skills and using different shades of ink. Yes, the work is monochrome, but how "colourful'! To make a dialogue, everything shouldn't be said between a painter and a viewer. In this regard Sumi-e requires viewers to use their imagination widely to see a picture in colour intuitively. My task as a painter is to create visual cues, that can activate the viewer's imagination, with the aim of causing his emotional experiences.

Живопись цветов в Японии воспринимается немного иначе, чем в Европе и связано это с глубокой философской основой: синтоизм, дзен буддизм, на которой развивался  жанр «Цветы и птицы». Здесь каждое изображение цветка несет за собой  символико-ассоциативный ряд.
